Spay Neuter Awareness

Author: Kirsten Peek

Many people don’t understand the hype behind fixing their pets.

H.E.A.T. members became aware of this problem after spending time volunteering at the animal shelter. We saw firsthand the importance of spaying and neutering pets in the equation to diminish overpopulation and find a home for every animal.

In honor of World Spay Day in February, the Animal Committee had a booth in the quad where we displayed catchy signs about the importance of spaying and neutering.  For those interested, we provided information about affordable pet care services offered at Emancipet in Austin.

Money is tight in college and this project connected Texas State students to a reputable low cost pet clinic while educating them on how to do their part to reduce the number of homeless animals.
